January opportunities to discuss Tax Review recommendations
Wednesday, 04 January 2023
Ahead of the States debate on the Policy & Resources Committee’s Tax Review recommendations, several opportunities are being organised so Islanders can find out more information and put their questions to States Members.
January 10th, 7pm – Live Facebook Q&A
An online Q&A session will be held with members of the Policy & Resources Committee and Tax Review Steering Group, including Deputy Peter Ferbrache, Deputy Mark Helyar, Deputy Dave Mahoney and Deputy Peter Roffey. Islanders will be able to post their questions on Facebook during the session and the panel will respond to as many as possible in a live broadcast.
January 14th, 10am – 12noon, Beau Sejour – Public drop-in
This is an opportunity for Islanders to come and speak individually with States Members who have developed the recommendations in one-on-one conversations. Members of the public can attend anytime between 10am and 12noon.
January 17th, 7pm, Beau Sejour - Public Meeting
A further public presentation will be held in the Beau Sejour theatre, where the panel will seek to provide as much helpful information as possible to respond to questions, comments and concerns received so far from the community. Following the presentation, the panel will take questions from members of the public who attend. This event will also be livestreamed on the States of Guernsey Facebook page.
January 21st, 10am – 12noon, the Butes Centre in Alderney – Public drop-in
Deputies will travel to Alderney for an event where they can answer questions from members of the public on the morning of Saturday, January 21st. Members of the public can attend anytime between 10am and 12noon.
Deputy Peter Ferbrache, President of the Policy & Resources Committee said
“What the States decide in its January debate on the Tax Review will have major consequences for the community for many years to come. But we fully recognise this is a difficult decision and many Islanders have concerns. The solutions are not simple, and we want to give as much time as possible to answering questions and explaining how we’ve come to these recommendations.”
